Introduction of New Executive Committee
Chairman Brown began the meeting by introducing the New Executive Committee:
Cherry Brown, Chair; Byron Thompson, 1st Vice Chair; Mike Finney, 2nd Vice Chair; Keldric Freeman, 3rd Vice Chair; RoseAnne Nippier-Riddick, Executive Committee-Woman; Frank Puckett, Executive Committee-Man; Ernie Rogge, Alternate Executive Committee-Man; Mamie Banks, Alternate Executive Committee-Woman; Renee Finney, Secretary; Angela Martin and Mary Shirley, Treasurer.

Chairperson Comments
Cherry Brown acknowledges Supreme Court Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson of which members gave a round of applause and standing ovation. Cherry also congratulated Kent Kelly winning the election for COP Commissioner. Cherry acknowledges the hard work to Joan Stockton for the McCormick County Democratic Party website.
Committee Members Needed: Cherry is requesting one person to serve on the Platform and Resolutions Committee and the Rule and Credentials Committee for Jay Parmley (Executive Director of SC Democratic Party). This is needed by April 15, 2022.

Poll Managers Needed:
Cherry also needs a list of Poll Managers as soon as possible to send to the McCormick County Voters Registration Office by tomorrow morning.
Annual Pot Luck – May 10th 5:30 PM @ Plum Branch Yacht Club:
Byron Thompson volunteered to organize the Annual Pot Luck Super at the Plum Branch Yacht Club to be held on May 10th. We will hold our Democratic General Meeting at this Pot Luck Supper.
Writers Guild Committee: Cherry requesting volunteers to submit articles to the new McCormick Journal-Messenger newspaper. Jo Ann Ritchie stated that she is the Writers Committee Chairperson.
Elected Officials in Attendance: Cherry introduced people that have upcoming elections: Jo Bell-Turman for School Board election, Tamala White for District 5 County Council, Faye Puckett for County Coroner.
Joan Stockton Comments – Website Status and “Poll Watcher” Training
Joan discussed the McCormick County Democratic Party website and introduced Betty Rogge as taking over the website and will be gradually refining the website. Joan also offered a “Poll Watcher” refresher training for those interested and would like to conduct the training within the next month. Mike Finney – MCDP Mims Advertising Handout
Mike Finney briefed the party for the Mims Juneteenth Booklet sample handout is located at the front of the table for folks to review and make any suggestions/comments.
Paula Goldman – Juneteeth 3-day Event Committee
Paula Goldman volunteered to be the “Juneteenth Committee” which entails the set-up of a Voter Registration table during the 3-day event. Paula is also asking for volunteers to help.
Jerry Goldman Speaker Introductions
Jerry Goldman introduced Bill Kimler, Chairperson of the Greenwood Democratic Party who is running for District 13 House Seat.
Bill Kimler Words to the MCDP: His campaign is running on the “FACTS MATTER. HONESTY MATTERS. TRUTH MATTERS. SANITY IS NEEDED” platform.
It was acknowledged by Carol Williams that Bill was instrumental for the set-up and implementation for the robo-help phone calls that Jackie Brown used for the MCDP members.
Jerry Goldman than introduced Gary Burgess, Running for SC Superintendent.
Gary Burgess Words to the MCDP: Teachers are under appreciated and they need to be rewarded both financially – recommends that they are paid at least $50,000 annually. Gary’s campaign is running on the “ACE” platform of Academic Excellence and Community Control of the classroom. Gary is a product of the South Carolina public school system.
Chairperson Final Meeting Comments – New General Meeting Locations/Times
Cherry Brown discussed that the MCDP Executive team held a meeting last Friday to discuss possible new General Meeting location facilities and new times to meet. Cherry asked for any suggestions for meeting places as she is looking into other facilities besides the McCormick Library.
Cherry also added that after she spoke with Mary Thompson for the Fall Sports meals – this effort is on hold until a new Athletic Director is hired.
