Minutes of Meeting December 27, 2022 at Rose Anne's home
The Democratic Women met Tuesday, Dec. 27, and were faced with a surprise at the library. It was closed until 12/29!
So Joan called the nearest Democrat in town — and RoseAnne Napier-Riddick graciously agreed to host us. She even had Christmas crowns and special Christmas prizes for each one of us. Aren’t you sorry you were not there?
Paula began the meeting by encouraging each member to share their Christmas good news.
The group recommended Octavia Butler’s Kindred both as a book and as the current movie.
The Apple TV movie Spirited with Ryan Reynolds and Will Farrell was recommended, too.
Rose Anne noted the the Gospel according to Biff, Christ’s Childhood Friend is a humorous read.
Looking ahead to 2023, various ladies declared possible resolutions for the new year:
Looking ahead to 2023, various ladies declared possible resolutions for the new year:
• We pondered whether VOTER REGISTRATION ought to be a main project starting right now to build up that group before the next election process begins so that voters realize we Democrats are encouraging them to VOTE not simply to vote for Democratic candidates.

- VOTEBUILDER: Marion suggested she would like to become more familiar with the software and the party’s ability to utilize its strengths. Questions: how does the data base get updated? Who handles the updating: How often does that happen?
- FACEBOOK: Mary Ann Linsenmeyer got the program up and running on line but would like to have someone else take over the project. We wondered if we could locate younger folks to administer the program to take advantage of its appeal to the 20/30 age group.
- Our mission statement states that the party’s objective is to promote candidates for various openings. The group hoped that we might begin NOW to recruit people who want to run for an office or remain in office. What can we do to get their campaigns off to a good start?
- MINUTES ON THE WEBSITE. Not sure folks have noticed that we stopped publishing minutes of our meetings on the website. Marion Farina has been sending the minutes out via email to the members. Joan noted that the reason the minutes were on the website was as a means to invite members to the website. Since the minutes were discontinued on line, visits to the website have declined. The reason for not posting the minutes publicly seems to be mainly concern about publishing the party’s financial information. However, no financial info has been put online. Notes printed out on the Secretary’s notebook do include financial details. Joan hopes to bring up the issue at the full party meeting Jan. 2.
