McCormick County Democratic Party Meeting November 1 2022
Meeting called to order by First Vice Chair Byron Thompson at 6:00 p.m. as Chairperson Brown attended the meeting via Zoom due to illness

Byron recognized elected and appointed individuals present: County Officials, County Coroner, Ministers, School Board Committee members and Precinct Presidents.
- Democratic Candidates Address the MCDP
-Kitty Butler thanks MCDP for all of the campaign support. She has already baked a dessert to celebrate re-election on November 8th
-Jackie Brown conveyed that she was on a radio program show last weekend and that she appreciates the support of the MCDP
-Ben White thanks MCDP and encourages the community to become more involved with the School Board as well as the County Council. Vice Chair also highly encouraged the MCDP to remain involved with the community.
-Verteema Chiles thanks MCDP and reiterates that the School Board will continue to improve the students’ test scores
-Joy Bell-Turman thanks MCDP and asked that anyone who would like to volunteer to help with her free tutoring classes for students - she has on Tuesday and Thursday each week - to please contact her. Joy also stated that she was on the radio program with Jackie Brown last Sunday and Jackie did a great job!
-Charles Jennings also thanked the MCDP and that we need to keep encouraging folks to vote in this last week of early voting and on election day November 8th. Charles conveyed that the Spec Building was recently sold to a company which will bring much needed business and jobs to McCormick.

Polly Walters who was Poll Watching stated that she thought the Poll Workers were polite, professional and were doing a great job.
Cherry noted that the Phone Bank list that we received appeared to have a number of Republican voters on it. Using the print out from Jackie Brown’s Vote Builder list will hopefully alleviate this issue.
` Barbara Sibert, Paula Goldman, Ben White who went out canvassing and knocking on doors at Timber Ridge, West Town & Cherry Manor. RoseAnne Napier-Riddick and Cherry Brown also canvassed downtown McCormick around Cherry Street behind the old Elementary School and down Carolina Street and houses to the right of Carolina Street. We still need help canvassing in Mt. Carmel, Willington and downtown McCormick.

- MCDP Float for Christmas Parade – December 3rd and MCDP Christmas Tree Decorating
Cherry offered to get a truck and trailer for the MCDP Float during the Christmas Parade.
- November 8th MCDP Celebration Event
It was asked when we will have the election results and it normally becomes available between 9 – 10 PM on election night. The results will be posted on www.scvotes.gov., local news, and FB.
