Pot Luck at Plum Branch

McCormick County Democratic Party Pot Luck
and Meeting May 10 2022

 • Meeting called to order by Chairman Brown at 5:30 p.m. 
• Prayer/Blessing given by Reverend Don Lee
​• Chairman Brown welcomed Democrats to the Pot Luck and led a Meet-and-Greet discussion for folks to get to know each other
• Pot Luck scheduled for 6:00 to 6:30 p.m. followed by the MCPD Meeting

Introduction of New Executive Committee 
Chairman Brown began the meeting by introducing the New Executive Committee: 
Cherry Brown, Chair; Byron Thompson, 1st Vice Chair; Mike Finney, 2nd Vice Chair; Keldric Freeman, 3rd Vice Chair; RoseAnne Nippier-Riddick, Executive Committee-Woman; Frank Puckett, Executive Committee-Man; Ernie Rogge, Alternate Executive Committee-Man; Mamie Banks, Alternate Executive Committee-Woman; Renee Finney, Secretary; Angela Martin and Mary Shirley, Treasurer.  

 Chairperson Remarks 
Cherry Brown stated that the Juneteenth MCPD advertisement was submitted to the Mims Foundation Board. Cherry also stated that Bob Stockton and Ernie Rogge were appointed as Committee to the State Regulations Board. Cherry Brown also acknowledged that Marion re-approved the Zoom meeting payment of which Cherry asked for a motion to the Party to reimburse Marion for the cost. The motion was approved.

Paula Goldman – Juneteeth Parade – June 18th
Paula Goldman stated that the Juneteenth parade will start at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 18th.

Joan Stockton Comments – “Poll Watcher” Training 
Joan stated that she had given the first class for “Poll Watcher” refresher training last week and also offered to provide additional training for those interested at a precinct meeting or at the Library. Please Contact Joan for Poll Watcher training.  

Don Moss Comments – McCormick Memorial Dedication for Veterans
Don briefed the audience that the Veterans Association (VA) will kick off the McCormick Memorial dedication on May 21st @ 11a.m. in the “Up-town McCormick” which is located behind the MACK and across the street from the Town Hall.

Chairman Introduces Elected Officials in Attendance: Cherry Brown asked that Kenny Puckett introduce the newly selected McCormick H.S. Football Coach Paul Pratt. Paul provided his background and experience on coaching various teams while living and working in McCormick SC. 

Cherry also introduced people that have upcoming elections. Listed in the order they spoke:
  • Tamala White for District 5 County Council
  • Kitty Butler – Probate Judge
  • Mary Shirley – Treasurer
  • Carissa Parks – Auditor
  • Jackie Brown – District 5 County Council. 

Each person stood introduced themselves and provided the audience with their experience and why they should be elected/re-elected.
Cherry also wanted to clarify that there are 3 people running for South Carolina – Superintendent but only one person has any superintendent experience which is Gary Burgess.  JUNE 14th is the PRIMARY.

Jerry Goldman – Democratic Convention @ Columbia SC – June 10th and 11th 
Jerry invited people to attend the Democratic Convention which will host a Reception/Dinner on Friday night June 10th as well as the convention on Saturday June 11th at the Columbia Convention Center.
